About line tracing worksheets

Before letters come lines. These sheets give little hands a reason to practice: start at the green dot and follow the dotted path all the way to a picture at the end. Having a goal at the end of the line makes the practice feel like a little game.

Preschool pages use straight lines, zigzags, waves and humps. Kindergarten pages add steps and loops, which are the same movements kids later use to write letters. There's nothing to grade, just practice and pride. Print a few to build up stamina over the week.

What each level covers

  • Preschool

Wide dotted paths: straight lines, zigzags, waves and humps.

  • Kindergarten

More challenging paths with zigzags, waves, humps, steps and loops.
